Alliance Meeting
January 5. 2024
Over a century ago, women played a major creative role in the writing, directing, and producing of motion pictures. By the 1930s, however, the legacy of these pioneers had been erased. Why did women filmmakers flourish in the early years of cinema, and why were their contributions soon forgotten? Answers to these questions are especially timely given current media interest in the creative and commercial success of women filmmakers in Hollywood today.
Chuck Wolfe is Professor Emeritus of Film and Media Studies at UC-Santa Barbara and a long-time member of USSB.
The Alliance meets on the first Friday of the month at 2pm from October – June.
