Friday Salon “Meeting with Ideas” meets every Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm

Gail Fairburn leads talks on a wide range of topics, from travel to poetry and more. All are welcome.

Apr 30 – What’s the Big Idea? It’s one o’clock — do you know where your food is? Thinking About Agriculture and Food Politics. In this session, we don’t have to be experts or even well informed. Let’s talk about the place food occupies in our social, political, and economic systems. How do we think about our own food and shopping choices, the choices we have and the choices we wish we had? Are you vegetarian or vegan or have you significantly changed your eating habits in recent years for ethical, economic, or political reasons (rather than specific health concerns)? Do you have concerns about food packaging and waste? If you are knowledgeable about any of these topics or you are involved in any activism in these areas, please come and help educate the rest of us. What observations have you made about food logistics in our own community? What don’t we know and what are some sources of additional information?
