Youth Programs
YoUUth Group
Our youth group is open to seventh through twelfth graders. Teens gather to explore and share their questions and answers about life, relationships, spirit, and social justice. Activities include campouts, retreats, social outings, guest speakers, worship, and involvement in church and community service projects. An annual mission trip is a highpoint of the year. Please email Charla Bregante for our most current youth group schedule.
Coming of Age (COA)
Facilitated by experienced youth facilitators, eighth and ninth graders reflect on their lives, their values, and their evolving spirituality. Every youth participant is paired with an adult mentor for the duration of the program. Teens participate in campouts, a vision quest, and weekly Sunday gatherings. They wrestle with beliefs about God, death and dying, and living an ethical life as they move from childhood to adulthood. The program culminates in a Coming of Age worship service for the whole congregation in May. Please email Charla Bregante for information about the next offering of COA for our congregation.
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Our Whole Lives is a sexuality education program for youth that models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. It’s a holistic and program that moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values, and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world.
Unlike many other sexuality curricula currently available, this program is comprehensive and progressive. Although the curriculum was developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ, this volume is completely secular and free of specific religious doctrine or reference. However, the underlying values of the program reflect the justice oriented traditions of both denominations.
Please email Charla Bregante for our most current schedule.
