On Flags and Faith

Written in 1791, the very first words of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution are: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” But today, the way our nation defines the bedrock concept of “the separation of church and state” is changing. How do we, as a progressive, liberal faith that supports religious freedom, navigate these changes and respond to the growing power of Christian Nationalism?
