September 24th will be the 200th birthday of Frances Ellen Watkins Harper. An African American poet, teacher, abolitionist, novelist, and famed public speaker in her time, she was active in her Unitarian church and relentless in her work for a better world.  As we prepare to put her name up on one of the windows in our sanctuary, let’s spend a little time with her life and legacy.

This is also the kickoff to our Religious Exploration year and the Blessing of the Backpacks – everyone is invited to bring your backpacks, purses, briefcases, tote, belt bag, etc. with you!
