Lead Minister Rev. Julia Hamilton

The Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara creates opportunities to nurture your own spiritual development in a supportive, open-minded community.

Although we come together every Sunday to worship as a community, each individual is responsible for cultivating their own spiritual growth and maturity. Some people find a connection to the sacred or holy out in the natural world, some find it through meditation or prayer, some through art and music, some through reading and the sciences. All of these paths can connect us to the mystery and wonder of life that surrounds us.

What to expect at an in-person worship service at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara:

  • You can enter our Sanctuary from the main doors on Santa Barbara St. or through our gates on Arrellaga St. If you use a mobility device or have a stroller, we recommended using the Arrellaga St. entrance. Across the courtyard you will find a ramp leading to the side doors of the Sanctuary.

  • Upon entering the Sanctuary, you will be greeted by an usher who will offer an Order of Service that will have information about the worship service and some events and activities happening at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara.

  • You are welcome to sit anywhere you like. We also have a balcony that is accessible by stairs. In the back of the Sanctuary you will also see a space for little ones to crawl around and play.

  • The worship service will be a mix of readings, reflection, meditation, music, and a sermon. All ages are welcome to attend our worship services, and we also offer Children’s Programs and childcare on Sunday mornings.

  • After the service we offer a coffee our where everyone gathers in the courtyard or Parish Hall for conversation, community, and coffee. On the second Sunday of the month, we also offer a Newcomer Orientation at 11:15am in our front office.
